BRONZE LEVEL TRAINING GIVING YOUR DOG THE BEST START
The Bronze course is suitable for novice or experienced handlers with dogs over 11 months of age, or handlers with puppies graduating from the Puppy Foundation. It is all about building confidence, improving everyday manners and strengthening the bond between you, your dog and your environment. It follows the Kennel Club (KC) Good Citizen Dog Scheme (GCDS) with the opportunity for those completing the Bronze Assessment component to participate in the GCDS Bronze Award assessment. GCDS Awards are nationally recognised as indicators of responsible ownership and good dog behaviour,
BRONZE STARTER AND ASSESSMENT COURSE. This runs for 10 weeks, serving as a taster or point of entry for handlers wanting the foundations of training. The first five week course comprises practical, positive exercises designed to make real life situations easier for both. It covers care and responsibilities, how to fit and use your dog equipment, calm and controlled walking and meeting others, stay, recall and lots more. It is a good foundation course and a great way to build your relationship with your dog and to make friends and share experiences with like-minded people and their dogs.
The final five week segment builds and extends the knowledge and skills developed to the level required for the KC Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award assessment. It covers all aspects of the Bronze assessment: cleanliness and identification; collar, lead and equipment; walk on lead calmly and without pulling; polite manners at a door or gate; staying calm and focused round other people and distractions; grooming and examination of your dog without stress or fuss; recalling your dog; and, responsible dog ownership care and wellbeing. There is an opportunity for those completing this course to take the Kennel Club Bronze Award assessment with a certificate and rosette for successful candidates. Cost £80 plus £5 Society 2026 membership.
Course dates are from Monday 13th April until 29th June (no classes on 4th and 25th May - public holidays)
